Fleas

Flea Pest Control Products

Fleas are ground dwelling insects that lay their eggs on fabrics and tend to bite around the ankle, foot and lower leg. They are invariably associated with animals and pets and although any treatment must involve your pet, some three quarters of a flea’s life is actually spent not on the host, so other measures are required. Fleas go through four life stages – eggs, larvae, pupa and adult, and that process can take anything from a couple of weeks to months, depending on things like temperature and the presence of a host. Treatment requires a combination of work your end, and the use of products which will kill on contact but also keep working residually. As well as making sure your pet is on a flea treatment, washing fabrics that have been in contact with the floor at 60 degrees and a thorough hoovering all help. You can then apply the insecticides and dust, but don’t hoover for at least a week after this to allow the residuals to work.
